Tatcha The Pearl Tinted Eye Illuminating Treatment

Tatcha is one of the most gorgeous skincare brands I've come across. I've shared a couple of their holiday sets back in 2014 and 2015, as well as the dewy skin mist that everyone raves about! I've also been dying to try the Violet C Radiance Mask-which now comes in a set as a travel version. But today, I thought I would share a product I never really thought about purchasing and is now my secret skincare and make-up weapon.

For most of my life, my number one skin concern was acne. As I've gotten older under eye dark circles have stolen the first place spot. I assumed the answer was just add extra concealer-in a shade lighter-on top- despite that clearly not working by the creasing and cakiness.

The Pearl Tinted Eye Illuminating Treatment stumbled into my hands by way of Kirbie Johnson at the Popsugar Playground event. We sat in on her session about her favorite beauty products, and she shared this little purple Pokeball of a product. We were extra stoked it was included in a swag bag to try out!

It comes in three shades that roughly correspond to skintone but really it's the texture and the brightness that does wonders for the under eye. Hence, this is the medium shade, Softlight, and it works on my super fair skin.

Before
Here is my before face! No filter/editing/enhancing. Mostly natural light, but there was a light in the room to the left side of my face.

After
Only with The Pearl on! It's natural but oh so brightening. And the texture blends in your pores so well. You only need a teeny tiny bit for both eyes. As you blend it in with your finger, it kind of bursts into moisture.

All the make-up!
And here it is with a full face of make-up. Though, I totally skip the concealer step now! I also love that it's not only a make-up product but also a treatment.

What do you think? Have you tried this product?
What are some of your Tatcha favs?

Review | Herbivore Botanicals

I'm calling this a review, though it's very incomplete as there are many products from Herbivore I have yet to try. But before I spend a massive amount of money on the next batch of amazing smelling, powerful formulas, and streamlined packaging-I thought I'd share my first impressions of the brand.

The first product I tried was the infamous Coco Rose Body Polish. This scrub is amazing. It smells so delectable. The coconut oil, rose combo is just gorgeous. It's super scrubby and very hydrating. I need to repurchase a tub of this-which is crazy that the little one lasted so long! My next dive in the Herbivore pond, was the True Blue set. I couldn't believe the sizes for the price-and the amazing blue colour. I love facial oils and was excited to try Lapis Balancing Facial Oil with Blue Tansy Oil. The Blue Tansy Resurfacing Clarity Mask and oil make my skin feel calmed and balanced. Gorgeous smelling, gorgeous on your skin, gorgeous packaging.

Next on my list are the mists-Rose Hibiscus, Jasmine Green Tea-, Moon Fruit, Pink Cloud, and a jade or quartz roller, perhaps?

Let me know what your favourite Herbivore products are!

Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser & Boy Brow

You can tell I took this pic awhile ago with the winter sticker...Oh well, that means I have had plenty of time to test the products out! Here is the quick review:

Boy Brow | Definitely adding this to my arsenal of favourite brow products. I have been using it non stop. It makes it seem like you have naturally perfect eyebrows. It doesn't give a bold brow look, but if I am doing a bolder brow, I like to use it to fill in the beginning of my brow to have a nice fading in effect.

Milky Jelly Cleanser | Even after using this for several months now, I am not sure what to think.  I haven't been wowed, but I don't not like it? It leaves my skin feeling clean and hydrated. It does an okay job removing make-up (doesn't quite remove all mascara, liquid liner). The texture matches it's namesake, and you only need a little bit of product per use. I think I just am not a fan of the scent-it's unscented fragrance wise but the scent reminds me of putty. Sorry that my description of this is not much help ;P

There are a few more products I want to order. I am curious about the super serums, and I want to try more of their coloured make-up products. And for the awesome stickers, of course.

Andalou Naturals Illuminating Toner and Luminous Eye Serum

I can't walk out of a Whole Foods without beauty products. And plants. I ran out of a couple of my skincare staples, toner and eye cream, and decided to try out the brightening range from Andalou Naturals, the Illuminating Toner and Luminous Eye Serum. I have tried many things from the line and am currently using a coconut water day cream from them as well. I wasn't expecting any results, just maintaining status quo; however, I am really finding my skin to be so much more bright and healthy looking. This summer, I was hard on my skin between beach days and long hours in front of a computer. The clementine scent is so nice after a long day of either extreme outdoors or indoors.

Eye Cream Round Up

Just wanted to give a little shout-out to some of my favourite eye creams. I love grabbing different sample sizes. Full size eye cream is so expensive, but these little ones last a long time. I used to never bother with this step in my make-up routine, but getting older, spending all day in front of a computer, and a lack of sleep have made this product a must. Plus, the ritual of applying it gives me a little boost in the morning to be to tackle the day.

Ole Henriksen Ultimate Lift Eye Creme is a light, gel-ish formula. It's cooling cucumber scent really helps my face wake up.

I always select the fresh Black Tea Age Delay Eye Concentrate as a sample when it's available. The texture is a firm gel, it almost feels bouncy-if that makes sense. I really do feel like it reduces fine lines and dark circles.

100% Pure Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream is one of the more affordable eye cream options and is an actual true cream formula. It's like a coconut body butter for your eyes.

What's your favourite eye cream?

Review | tarte Rainforest of the Sea Make a Splash set

I love tarte for make-up and self-tanner, so of course, I had to try some of the new Rainforest of the Sea skincare. Conveniently for me, Sephora was featuring this handy Make a Splash sampler set for ten bucks. Perfection.

This set comes with the Marine Boosting Mist, Drink H2O Hydrating Boost, and Deep Dive Cleansing Gel. The cleansing gel has a great consistency, starting as a gel and turning into a frothy foam. I can't say that I agree with the waterproof make-up removing claim, but I did love it for a clean, yet hydrated feel. I love toning mists and ran through the Marine Boosting Mist sample quickly. It smells like fresh oranges. It says it can be used as a make-up setting spray, but I used it after cleansing with the gel for an extra dose of skincare.  A generous size for the moisturizer and again, a lovely texture. I have been using it in the morning. It keeps my skin glowing while letting make-up go on smoothly.

There seems to be a lot of new beauty products in the Rainforest of the Sea range, and this set was a good introduction to the line. I'm glad I decided to try it out and even picked up an extra for a friend. The packaging is gorgeous and perfect for summer.

Have you tried anything new from tarte?

Mother's Day Set from Tatcha

Mother's Day is a special day for me, as I am sure it is for many of you. It can be hard to find the perfect gift for someone so selfless. I know my mom isn't going to give me a list of things to buy her, but none-the-less, I want to do something special for her. Her birthday also falls in May too, so I want things to be extra special. That picture is from my undergraduate college graduation. As a teacher, she always inspired me to love learning and to help others. Not very eloquent, but it's true.

Tatcha is the most gorgeous luxury skincare brand. Yup, big claim, but I am standing by it. Their holiday sets were perfection, and they did it again with Okasan set.

Included is the Luminous Deep Hydration Lifting Mask, Ageless Enriching Renewal Cream, Gold Camellia Beauty Oil, and the Ageless Eye Cream. Plus, some cute Japanese candies. And I can't forget the wooden box! It is my favourite home decor item. The Camellia Beauty Oil is one of my absolute skincare favourites. With its floating gold flecks, it's like you are giving her gold too. At a lower price point with smaller sizes (but still substantial) than the holiday set, it makes for the perfect gift. You could even pick up a couple for your mom, grandmothers, mothers-in-law, friends that are moms- whomever!

Do you have any Mother's Day traditions?

Facial Oils

I am currently oil obsessed. I want to try every type there is. Currently, I have these four on rotation as my nightly moisturizer. Even though I have somewhat classifiable as 'oily' skin (acne-prone, not dry-but not shiny either), I find facial oils to be super efficient at keeping my skin balanced. Plus, many have additional skincare benefits as well.

Review | Liz Earle Skincare

Last Friday, I went to a lovely breakfast at Birchbox to learn more about the brand Liz Earle. My first discovery of the brand was their cult product the Cleanse & Polish, which I received in a Birchbox back in October. It quickly became a favourite and is part of my Evening Skincare Routine. I was so excited to be able to discover more products from the line and share my thoughts with you.

My Evening Skincare Routine

My morning routine was pretty simple. Especially in comparison to the amount of nighttime products. Now don't worry, I don't use all of these in the same night. That would be crazy, but sometimes I try to mix it up if my skin feels like it needs something or I just want to have a bit of a pamper session.

My Morning Skincare Routine

My morning routine is pretty simple as time is a limited resource in the a.m. Here are the products I have been using for the past six months during the late fall and winter seasons.

Review | Biore Self Heating One Minute Mask

I love when magazines give little freebies, but I feel like I haven't experienced that in awhile. However, the March 2014 Allure came with quite a few foil packet samples and a lot of spring trend make-up ideas. One ad that caught my eye was the new charcoal formulated Biore products. I don't use Biore products too often as they are a bit gimmicky but sometimes it's fun to use a nose strip or a one-minute self heating mask...

The Body Shop | Camomile Cleansing Balm & Seaweed Mattifying Day Cream

I recently added a couple of new items into my skincare routine. Surprisingly, I haven't tried much from The Body Shop's range, but I am really excited about these products and trying out more in the future.

Review | Suki Face Balancing Skincare

I mentioned the Suki Balancing Kit when I first ordered it from Birchbox and in my August Favourites. Now that I have been using the products for awhile, I thought I would do a review in case you might be interested in purchasing this kit or some of the products.

Juice Beauty Birchbox

On Thursday, I went to the Birchbox + Ann Taylor #ReadySetFinished event where I received a free Birchbox. I was super excited to see what would be inside and was even more excited to see that it was several Juice Beauty skincare products. I have been trying to find my ideal skincare routine and love trying products to help me become closer to that goal.

Review | boscia be brilliant set

As I was packing for the holidays to head back to my hometown, I stocked up on mini's of my favourite products. I had just run out of my sample of the boscia Purifying Cleansing Gel that I received in a Birchbox and knew I had to find another one to replace it. boscia has quickly become my favourite skincare brand! I received a sample of their BB Cream & the Cleansing Gel in a Birchbox, and ever since I have been hooked. I love their philosophy of combining the power of nature and science. I also find the sulfate, paraben, and preservative free formulas to be gentle on my sensitive skin.

Most Worn Tag | Summer 2012

The last week for summer for me consists of thoughts of the upcoming fall. My mind is so set on what the next season will bring that I tend to forget to live in the present and enjoy the summer while it lasts. So today's post is a reflection on my most worn beauty & fashion products of the summer. This is based off the popular YouTube beauty tag "Most Worn-Summer Edition." Though, it's meant to be a video, I thought it was a great idea for a blog post. There are 12 questions on your most worn beauty & fashion items of the summer and at the end you are supposed to tag some fellow beauty vloggers (or bloggers) to answer the questions too. So whatever form of media you use, consider yourself tagged!
