Quick Review | Rothy's vs Birdies

This is one of my most popular YouTube vids (at over 200 views lol!), so I thought I would share it on the blog if you missed it! It's a super quick video to give you the main details, so let me know if you have any other questions below. Though, I think most people are coming for the Rothy's $20 off referral code ;P If you own a pair of Rothy's you too have a $20 off code. So many people have heard about them- but haven't taken the plunge yet- so definitely pass on your code to friends & family!

Review | Onzie Flow Yoga

I had been in real need of some new yoga outfits. My current workout wardrobe was constantly being rotated in and out of the laundry. I had been following Onzie on Instagram, and a few yogis who seem to always be repping their stuff. I loved how many neutral colored yet bold designs they featured. They are high quality with a price tag that's way more affordable than brands like Lululemon. Think $50-60 dollars per item. Every so often they have a discount code which is when I ordered. You can also find their stuff on YogaOutlet.com which is where I ordered to get the Petunia print that was off season. I have also seen Onzie at Nordstrom Rack-the difficulty there is finding your size.

These photos are some real awkward timer shots, but I hope they give you a sense of the fit and movement of these pieces. I really can't wait to order some more. The fabrics are super luxe with edgy design details. They also passed the hot yoga test with regards to moisture wicking. I will say I prefer wearing the Ballerina capri in a non-heated, not so sweaty sesh as the fabric has a more cotton/sweatpant feel (despite not being cotton-they are just more cozy feeling). It showed a bit of sweat marks during class though instantly were dry after leaving the room. I also realized I prefer long pants for hot yoga, so I am not slipping when holding my shin or ankle (trikonasana). The high rise legging are perfect for that since they are long, skin tight, but super movable. They are so sleek, it's almost like water. The bra is full of details with the darting, high neckline with chest cut out, and X back. They have so many awesome strappy selections. And speaking of straps, I just love the lace ups on the side of the ballerina capri. I ordered an XS in the pants and a S/M in the bra.

Blue Jeans, White Shirt

Today felt like the first hint of spring. It's funny since objectively 55 isn't warm, but after freezing winds it felt like summer. We kept it casual today, running some errands and eating brunch. We were surprised with a late lunch with Preston's dad and grandma. It was so nice to see them.

When in doubt on what to wear, I go for the Sunday Funday shirt. I paired it with some high-waisted skinny jeans. I have been a bit obsessed with the high waist trend, such a different look than the super low rise jeans of my high school days. Since it is still February, I wore ankle boots and a fuzzy sweater (both old finds from Nordstrom Rack). I'm forever carrying my Cuyana tote. In keeping it easy, I whipped my hair up in a high pony (despite Preston showing me the ponytail/intelligence chart-I doubt its validity.)

Are you ready for spring? I secretly wish there was one more good snow day left.

Cuyana Classic Leather Tote in Stone

I treated myself to this here handbag as a birthday present, so I thought I would do a little review. I had been looking for a take anywhere and fit everything leather tote for awhile. In my search, I stumbled across the brand Cuyana. I fell in love with all their super simple yet luxurious designs.

Gray just might be my favourite colour, so I went with the shade Stone. It's a medium gray, just a touch on the warm side. It seriously goes with everything. The classic design allows it to easily translate from workwear to casual-wear, and it's durable enough for both those roles as well. You can fit a million things in it, so you might want some little bags to help you organize it all as it will get lost in the roomy tote. There is a pocket along the back that has a zipped compartment and an envelope-like pouch-perfect for your phone and a pen.

For a high-quality leather tote, I think the price is amazing. I love that you can add on monogramming as well. I have quite a few more items on my wishlist. You can't beat when something is gorgeous, functional, and going to last forever.

Any handbag currently on your wishlist?

Trend | Purse Pom-Pom

I've shared a few pics on Instagram & this post on my new bucket bag from Zara. It seems furry balls are a new thang in the accessories department. I'm not the only one that thinks it's fun. Patches approves.

Purse Poms? Yay or Nay?

Blush Bags | Zara Leather Bucket Bag with Tassel

I am having a thing for this new neutral. Blush. I used to avoid pinky shades, as my red hair/fair skin colouring can look a bit washed out. However, I am liking that it's a bit different, but still able to work with a lot of outfits. I got the Rebecca Minkoff Rose Gold Mab over the winter and love it. It's the perfect work tote. I wanted to give it a bit of a break, so I recently picked up this Zara Tassel Bucket Bag for more casual occasions. It's a true pink, but again works as well as a neutral. Plus, the bucket bag trend is still going strong. This one has a bit of a different shape & zips.

It's a small bag in my mind, though objectively I will say it's medium. It's nice to have something a little lighter for summer. It's in the sale (hopefully still) for a deal. I have gotten so many compliments on it-so check it out. The pom-pom key chain is from H&M.

Are you a fan of pink bags?

Garden State

When we weren't hiking up a storm, we were breathing in the fresh air, watching the birds. Ah, that deck life. We would just sit out there for hours...even nap. After a makeup-less, sweaty, work-out clothes wearing camping experience, I decided to dress up a bit. I felt like I was in a secret garden.

 Bulbasaur!
The dress is from Target. They have so many cute maxi dress options. Gladiators are Vince Camuto Hevelli-I scored them from Marshall's for a huge discount, so I suggest checking out the discount stores first. Nails are Butter London Fruit Machine. Weirdly, it's one of the very few pink polishes I own.

Sunny days outside planting tomatoes. It makes me excited to one day have a garden of my own. Though, I admit I could put in some more effort into my concrete jungle of a backyard. My succulents are still alive! Whoop-whoop. I know, it's only been a month...

Pineapples, kale, avocado, oh my!

Happy Saturday! The weather has been perfect-warm & breezy. Preston & I took a leisurely walk to Red Hook to stop by Ikea (I should be typing this at my desk in my new chair; however, something fluffy has taken it over.) I went a little boho themed today in a long jersey dress, ankle boots, a wide brim hat.

I see this fruit mural while on the train on my way to work. I just love it, so I knew I would have to take some pictures. It's called the "Pineapple Mural", and it was done by the Gowanus Canal Conservancy. Gowanus is a super grungy warehouse neighborhood, sandwiched between the more row house aesthetic Park Slope & Carroll Gardens. It's infamous for the lovely, pleasant, totally not a Superfund site, canal. And now the Whole Foods with reasonably priced manuka honey.

Dress & Hat are from Forever 21. I discovered the hat through The Quintessentials Blog-she finds the best bargain pieces. The ankle boots are Vince Camuto from Nordstrom Rack. I love wearing ankle boots year round. I kept the accessories minimal with the Aurora necklace from Jewelmint and my Ray Bans. On my lips, is Wet n Wild Balm Stain in Coral of the Story

Eat your fruits and veggies.

& enjoy the weekend!

Haul | Target Sam & Libby Shoes

Weather in the 40s! Almost there. In the meantime though, I have been imagining spring outfits for work and weekend. I am a bit obsessed with D'Orsay style, pointy toe shoes and when I saw all the options at Target from Sam & Libby, I purchased quite a few. I am not much of a heels girl, but I couldn't help but ordering these when they were at such a discount (the snake print pair were $12-and are still available). They would look so cute on a date night with skinny jeans or with some sleek trousers for work. I ordered the two high heels online and of course, my obsession didn't end there. On a physical trip to Target, I saw the flat version. Sold. I decided on the black as they would be a perfect everyday pair; they also have a nude and leopard version. For the heels, I ordered by normal size, as they had straps, and for the more open flats, I went a half-size down. D'orsays can get a bit flip-floppy, making it hard to walk, these fit snug enough to have more control. And look super cute.

Have you made any spring fashion purchases lately?

Workwear | Blazers

I splurged a bit with a new bag and then decided to save on a couple of new blazers from Forever 21. Surprisingly, they have some quality blazers, especially in the Love 21 line. And at $25 each, I was able to get a gray & cream to work for a variety of occasions. I thought the gray one would be more practical, but I really love the fit of the cream. Both are open-style, which I notice I never really button my blazers anyway. My office is pretty business casual, but I thought it would be nice to dress up the sweater, pants, boots combo of this winter with a blazer to just send it on the business side. Eventually, I will invest in a more expensive option (at least a Zara number), but until then I am quite happy with these finds.

What items do you splurge and save on?

New In | Rebecca Minkoff Rose Gold Mab

I treated myself to a little Christmas present. I was going to use all that Christmas money and those Visa gift cards for bills (which I did a little), but instead decided to get a new handbag. I got a new title at work and was feeling like I wanted to refresh my 'work-drobe' to match the change. My mission was blazers & a work tote, and I definitely succeeded. Today, I will be sharing the new bag. It's a Rebecca Minkoff Medium Mab Tote in Saffiano Rose Gold. Those words are some of my favourite things...

Jewelmint | Chaillot Necklace & Blanc Tassel Pendant

I decided I needed to update my jewelry collection with a couple of new winter pieces. A lot of my statement necklaces and longer pendants are more spring/summer in pastel and summery shades. I love Jewelmint as all their pieces are on trend, nice quality, and affordable. I decided to order the Chaillot Necklace and the Blanc Tassel Pendant.

Review | JustFab Lisander OTK Boots

I love the look of over-the-knee boots but couldn't seem to find a pair that were tall enough or skinny enough or would actually stay up the entire day. Until now. JustFab is a site I am pretty new too, but after seeing the Lisander boots, I thought I would take the gamble.

Fall Fashion

We can all agree fall fashion is the best. Scarves & sweaters are my thing. I just wanted to share a few fall items I have been loving over the season.

JewelMint Mystery Box | Wanderlust & Co

I have been loving a lot of pieced on Jewelmint lately. They are so unique and have a lot of trendy pieces at reasonable prices. Not as cheap as Forever 21, but much better quality (typically). $29.99 is a bit of a splurge to me when buying a trendy costume piece, but I have found a few items that I have definitely gotten that use out of and more. Because I have been loving so many things off the site, I thought I would try ordering a mystery box. This mystery box was pieces from Wanderlust & Co. In looking at their collective pieces, I really liked them and though I knew you weren't guaranteed anything seen on the site, I figured I liked the vibe enough to take the risk. Plus, even if you just liked one piece you would get your money's worth. Though pieces are different in all the boxes, and this particular mystery box is sold out, I thought I would share it if you were curious to see what others got or wanted an idea of what the mystery box was all about. I know I googled past boxes to get a sense of the whole idea.

Warby Parker | Beacon Collection

Over the weekend, my friend, Vanessa, and I were roaming around Chelsea. We had a girl's afternoon planned of lunch and walking the High Line. We also stopped into the Warby Parker store to check out the frames I had been hearing so much about.

OOTD | Summertime Trends

It's almost funny how awkward I am about the whole outfit post thing. I feel awkward asking Preston to help me with the photos, awkward posing on the street, awkward editing, and now I feel awkward writing about it. Why are close ups of my face less weird for me? I have no idea. I have been embracing summer styling this past week as the weather wouldn't have it any other way. Usually I am one to stick with one trend, but this outfit is a clash of quite a few and yet it still doesn't seem too much like you're a mannequin. Or I could be entirely wrong. I know nothing about fashion.

OOTD | Faux Leather Mini

I was quite excited for the warm weather and decided to throw on my new(ish) faux leather mini from Forever 21. I love the light khaki colour, high waist, and little slit. I kept it springy with coral lips, cat flats and a pastel statement necklace.

Light Spring Jackets

I love to layer. Usually it's with a huge sweater or scarf, but when the weather warms up that option is not always feasible. Even with the huge handbag to shove it in. I decided to update my wardrobe a bit for spring by adding some lightweight jackets. An easy addition to make a simple tee & skinny jeans combo look put-together-without over-heating.

OOTD | Shades of Gray

Am I not the most awkward 'Outfit of the Day' poser or what? Well, I am trying. It was a gorgeous day over the weekend. One of the first where I didn't have to wear a coat, boots, or thermal underwear...I decided to go with a monochromatic gray outfit. I am loving gray jeans at the moment and can't wait 'til it gets a bit warmer, so I can channel this inspiration outfit.
