Rose All Day

I am all about rose-rose gold, rosy shadows, rose floral. Here are a few of my favourite rose-themed things.

If you haven't made the switch to natural deodorant yet, pick up Schmidt's Rose + Vanilla scent. If it doesn't convince you, I sincerely apologize-but I am willing to take that bet. It smells like a luxe perfume while keeping you fresh. This was the one that finally stuck for me, but even so, natural deo does take a little bit to get used to.  This Rose Water Facial Toner was a surprising find from Trader Joe's-next post idea TJ beauty finds. It is beautifully scented (duh, it's rose) and a great value. Feels much fancier than the price!

I am nearing the end of my beloved Glossier Coconut balm dotcom and knew I need to pick up another. I loved the coconut and am equally in love with the rose. I've used every last granule of sugar from this Herbivore Coco Rose Body Polish jar, and now, I need to upgrade to the big one. Rose + Coconut = Amazing. So scrubby and so hydrating.

Now that I've gone on and on about the scent of rose, let's move on to the colour. I'm a fan of the Urban Decay Naked 3 - classic for rose tones. But lately, I have been loving this small but packs a punch palette- Wet n Wild Rose in the Air. Five dollars. It's clearly a dupe for Anastasia Modern Renaissance and honestly, I had a moral dilemma about purchasing a dupe-creativity should be rewarded! Throwing down $50 for the real thing felt pretty steep until I knew I could pull the colours off, but I loved Subculture, so I am sure the full price is worth it. Depending on your budget check either out! The hot pink and burnt oranges are my favs and surprisingly wearable!

I also threw in a couple packets of this Pukka Tea Love blend for a full rose experience! Rose Hip Oil is another solid beauty staple, and of course, rose gold all the things. Maybe next, I should share my collection of rose gold clothing items. You would think it would be small....until I walk in wearing a rose gold leather jacket....

Review | Herbivore Botanicals

I'm calling this a review, though it's very incomplete as there are many products from Herbivore I have yet to try. But before I spend a massive amount of money on the next batch of amazing smelling, powerful formulas, and streamlined packaging-I thought I'd share my first impressions of the brand.

The first product I tried was the infamous Coco Rose Body Polish. This scrub is amazing. It smells so delectable. The coconut oil, rose combo is just gorgeous. It's super scrubby and very hydrating. I need to repurchase a tub of this-which is crazy that the little one lasted so long! My next dive in the Herbivore pond, was the True Blue set. I couldn't believe the sizes for the price-and the amazing blue colour. I love facial oils and was excited to try Lapis Balancing Facial Oil with Blue Tansy Oil. The Blue Tansy Resurfacing Clarity Mask and oil make my skin feel calmed and balanced. Gorgeous smelling, gorgeous on your skin, gorgeous packaging.

Next on my list are the mists-Rose Hibiscus, Jasmine Green Tea-, Moon Fruit, Pink Cloud, and a jade or quartz roller, perhaps?

DIY Bath Bombs

It's been awhile since I've done a DIY. I have been itching to get crafty again. I love spending a weekend afternoon working on something fun. I decided to try out a beauty do it yourself for bath bombs. I love a trip to Lush but thought it would be fun to try to recreate that bath time experience. Costing a fraction of the price and able to be customized however you fancy.

I followed this video from Rachel Talbott. I love watching her DIY beauty videos and have tried a couple of her tips for at home pampering. After watching the video, I made an Amazon order and picked up the rest of the ingredients at my local drugstore. It was super easy, and now I am stocked up to make batches & batches of bath bombs. I used a 6 half circle mold which works out well since I usually end up breaking Lush bombs in half anyway!

Recipe for 6 Half-Sphere Bath Bombs:

Dry:

1 cup Baking Soda

1/2 cup Citric Acid

1/2 cup Epsom Salt

Wet:

3 tsp Almond Oil

1 tsp Water

From there you combine your wet ingredients to the dry slowly to reduce premature bubbling. To half of the mixture, to make three of the molds, I added 2 tablespoons of ground coffee for the energizing bombs, and for the other three, I added 2 drops of lavender essential oil and 2 drops peppermint essential oil for the aromatherapy bombs. I am going to pick up some clay, dried lavender, and dried eucalyptus to add, but it worked very well with just the essential oil. I accidentally doubled the wet ingredients, so as my bombs were drying they started to expand. I was worried they would lose all of their fizz, but they still activated when placed under the faucet. It also made them look like delicious scoops of ice cream! I am going to have to whip up another batch or two.

How I Store My Lush Bath Products

The rose gold love continues from yesterday's post-this time with interiors. I am loving a touch of metallic around my apartment. I don't discriminate between gold and silver, but copper touches are definitely my favourite. Every once in a blue moon, I step into a Lush store and come out with quite a few bath bombs, melts, and bubble bars. Admittedly, they used to just hang out in the paper bag until go-time. Then, after a few candle hauls too many, I started to store them in the 3-wick Bath & Body Works candles. That worked okay, but that candle jar is pretty short, so I really only used it after having broken up the product in half or even quarters. My love of B&BW candles has sort of faded out with my discovery of the soy candles from Target. They are slightly better priced, larger, better ingredients, and have a touch more sophisticated scents. The jar is also much more conducive for Lush storage as the jar is taller. Any larger and I would probably become a bath product hoarder, so this is the perfect size. I love the copper tops with the artisanal font and design. I'm currently burning 'Cozy Nights' which has a pretty pale silver lid if that fits your bathroom theme better. I bought this tray years ago, and it fits these jars rather nicely. I couldn't fit an even three, but pairing it with the smaller jar version makes for a nice bath treat. I have my candle and products all ready to go!

Lush | Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! We usually spend the weekend in Jersey but went out there just a couple weekends ago, so decided to stay home. We're making the most of the start of spring by doing a full cleaning. We made so much progress yesterday! Life is much nicer with a clean apartment. I picked up the latest from Marie Kondo, Spark Joy, to serve as a bit of inspiration. I also purchased a few goodies from Lush. I'm loving it as a simple, little Easter tradition. Plus, I have taken up rock climbing and am so sore-I could use a luxurious bath!

For Easter goodies, I went with the classic Bunch of Carrots. But this year, it has an heirloom, farmer's market update. I love the bright fruit scent. It's great that it's reusable. I always end of breaking my bath items up for several uses, but with this one, I don't have to. You just swirl it around in your tub, then remove, and let dry for next time.

I had to go with the glitter bomb that is the Golden Egg. It's a bath bomb melt. It feels super soft and smells very sweet. Perfect for a relaxing evening in.

As I was walking out of the store, the Intergalactic bath bomb caught my eye. I loved the bright, swirling colours. It reminds me of those rubber balls from the quarter machines-you know what I am talking about, right? It has a mint, cedar scent. Very refreshing. I feel like Preston is definitely going to want to steal a piece of this one.

Lush Valentine's Day 2016

Today, the snow is pouring down. And a blizzard is the perfect day for a bubble bath. I picked up a couple of new Lush items in anticipation. I finally found the Unicorn Horn! Last year, I was unable to acquire it, so I am super excited. I also got Milky Bath, a new bubble bar. I love cocoa butter, so I knew I had to try it. Plus, I love the simple white & silver design.

Lushoween

Spooookyyy! On a cold, fall night, with the wind howling, the prospect of a warm, comforting bubble bath sounds all too perfect. Especially, when you add in a couple of new Lush goodies- then it basically becomes a reason to celebrate. Of course, I had to check out the Halloween items as it is October, and I found a couple of treats I am really excited to try.

Sparkly Pumpkin Bubble Bar This little, glittery pumpkin is so cute. I tend to only buy bubble bars if they are ridiculously adorable as they don't pack as much of a 'wow' factor as the bath bombs do. This one might might be a wow with all the sparkles though! I love the cinnamon stick center. It smells amazing-juniperberry, grapefruit, and lime.

Lord of Misrule Bath Bomb I have heard so many great things about this bath bomb, but since I have been unlucky with Halloween items in the past, I haven't had a chance to try it. First things first, it's huge! It smells amazing as well (patchouli and black pepper oil-though I'm not picking up on that as much as the vanilla and gardenia), it can be a bit overpowering, but I'm going to break this bad boy into quarters, so it won't be an issue. I'm excited to see the changing colours-the deep wine shade should make for a spooky looking bath.

Lush Refreshers

Every once in awhile, I mosey on into Lush. Usually, it's when a holiday collection is released, but this time it was to pick up a few treats for a night in. This time, I gravitated towards refreshing, clean scents. Perfect for the end of summer, before all the warm, sweet scents of fall begin.

These three are all new ones to me. Big Blue is a huge ocean-themed bath bomb with lavender, lemon, and seaweed. Avobath is another big bath bomb with avocado, lemongrass, and olive oil. With these bigger bath bombs and my tiny tub, I like to half or even quarter them for maximum usage. Finally, I wanted to pick up the Mask of Magnaminty, but they were sold out. It is quite the classic. I was recommended to try this new fresh face mask-Don't Look At Me.  Like Magnaminty, it exfoliates, hydrates, and tones. I love the whipped texture. Ground rice gently exfoliates and lemon juice tones.

Review | Ped Egg Power

Summer! Time to get pedicure ready. And recover from all the barefoot and sandal-wearing. I have been hearing about these nifty tools (and had one of the manual ones); however, the one I saw originally was pretty expensive. This one from Ped Egg was like fifteen bucks and works pretty well. It comes with two attachments-a courser blue and a finer purple. I don't know how much I can say about this, but I thought you might want to know...

Self-Tanning Essentials

Trying to get my faux glow on. Here are some of my favourite products. For Step 1: Exfoliation The Body Shop Body Scrub in Cocoa Butter is awesome at prepping the skin so no weird spots occur. Also make sure to shave before, so you don't end up having shave away your tan. Step 2: Hydrate. Julep's Body Cleanings Oil has a bright, energizing scent and leaves skin clean and hydrated-without being greasy. Perfect for streak-free tanner. As for the final step, tarte Brazilliance Self-Tanner
 is my fav. It's easy and gives such natural colour-even for my fair skin. Don't forget to use a mitt. They are fantastic for application.

Happy Easter | Lush Bunch of Carrots

I have such fond memories of Easter. Even through college, my mom would hide eggs around the backyard and make up gift baskets for my sister and me. If I was still in the same state, I am sure I would find little pastel eggs marked with a 'K' hidden by the pool. Now that I am in New York, Easter has been a new tradition. Preston and I go visit Preston's grandmother in New Jersey. I love spending the afternoon on the deck in between helping make deviled eggs and mashed potatoes. Perhaps, I'll bring some plastic eggs and hid them in the woods.

Mini Haul & Review | Lush Christmas

This Halloween, I stopped by Lush to check out their Christmas items (I like that this sentence has two holidays in it...) There were so many fun, festive items! Since it was still October, I limited myself to just a couple of winter products. Though I know I will be coming back for more.
