Urban Decay Naked 3

I am very excited to share some photos & thoughts on the newest in the line-up of Urban Decay's Naked palettes, Naked 3. Naked 3 features twelve eyeshadows, all new and all rose-toned. I was super excited about this palette as I am crushing hard on the trendy rose gold. And I know I am not the only one!

New Year's Eve Nail Art

Preston & I have no specific plans for NYE. Picking up a bottle of champagne is still on the to-do list, and I just finished my nails for the occasion. They were supposed to be fireworks, but they kind of look more like a bowling alley's carpet. Oh well, I tried.

Urban Decay Naked Palettes

Just thinking about the Urban Decay Naked palettes results in having the Pokemon 'Gotta Catch Them All' theme song stuck in my head. Eyeshadows are my favourite make-up item; I don't think I will ever feel like I have enough, especially neutrals. Urban Decay has always been my favourite brand of eyeshadow. I have owned so many of their palettes-the Wallpaper Shadow Box and Ammo Shadow Box being some of my firsts. I was ecstatic when the first Naked palette was released and ordered it right away (I have the double-ended eyeliner to prove it). I hit pan on quite a few shades before I got my hands on the Naked 2. Naked Basics was a palette I was on the fence about when it was first announced, but since purchasing it, I have literally used it everyday. It's the perfect companion to blend out any of your favourite shades from 1 and 2. Now I am happy to report I am the proud new owner of the most recent release, Naked 3. Rose tones are a huge trend that I have succumbed to, making this palette a must-have. I am looking forward to experimenting with the shades a little more before making any final reviews (check back this week for swatches & looks). But I have to say, I love the Naked palettes.

What is your favourite Naked palette?

Here are a few snapshots from my Christmas in Florida and my arrival back in the city.

This week will be slow on the posts. I'm currently in Florida spending the holidays with family. The beginning of this week was a crazy frenzy of long work days and last minute shopping and shipping, ending with an early morning flight and some R&R in the sunshine state.

[Breakfast of Champions.]

[Adding some personal touches to wrapping gifts.]

[Airport photobooth fun.]

[Current holiday mani featuring Zoya PixieDust polishes.]

[Preston's house has an amazing assortment of animal friends.]

[Summer weather.]

[A flashback to Christmas 2011. Can't believe it's been that long!]

Hope you have an amazing week!

Review | Wet n Wild Balm Stain Lady and the Vamp

I spotted a display of the new Wet 'n Wild Balm Stains in the drugstore recently and knew I had to take a chance. I wish desperately to be a lipstick lover but the maintenance is just something I can't pull off day-to-day. Lip balm application I can handle and stains equal long-wearing, so this could be something I can do. I decided to go with the darkest shade, Lady and the Vamp, as it looked to be the perfect moody berry lip that I just haven't been able to achieve.

Better late than never?

[Holiday treats from Baked ]

[Loving the festive Birchbox this month!]

[Lots of snow!]

[I am weirdly obsessed with this game. Check your Starbucks app for a free code.]

[Winter days.]

[Loving the new balm stains from Wet n Wild. This is Lady and the Vamp.]

[I blame the delayed posts on work, work, work.]

Hope you have an amazing week!

Winter Nails | Burgundy & Gold Glitter Gradient

Another glitter gradient. I can't help it I just love them. This time I used traditional holiday colours, burgundy and gold, to keep it festive, but these colours are classic anytime.

Zoya PixieDust Carter

After first seeing the release of Zoya's PixieDusts this past spring, I had dreamt up a deep purple textured polish. And lo and behold for the fall PixieDust collection, there was Carter. Exactly how I envisioned it. The textured finish just lends itself to work perfectly with a bright purple. It reminds me of a geode.

Birchbox | December 2013

Usually I am viewing sneak peeks and stalking for spoilers for each month's Birchbox. However, the last few weeks have been pretty chaotic making this month a complete surprise. There doesn't seem to be a specific theme just the overall festivities of the holiday season. The overlay box was a shiny gold with a white bow and tag graphic on the front, so I was pretty excited to open it up!

Winter Nails | Pastel Trend

Pastels used to be a colour group only reserved for spring, but lately pastels have been appearing as the "it" colours for winter. Now, I don't think I could rock the pink winter coat (every fashion bloggers must-have this season), but I could manage incorporating these trendy hues on my nails.

Gift Guide | My Christmas Wish List

Today I thought I would share what's on my personal holiday wishlist. A bit of a mix of fashion, lifestyle, and beauty items.

Top Winter Nail Polishes

With this upcoming winter season (though winter always feels like it should start December 1st), I thought I would share my guide to winter nail polishes. I have done a few posts like this in Fall and Spring, so I'm keeping up the momentum and sharing my polish picks for winter. Now, I do this a little differently from other top 10 posts by picking different categories and showing a variety of options. I hope this inspires you to "shop" from your collection and of course, find some new polishes to add to your wishlist.

It's been awhile since I posted a Seven. Between work, Ph.D. apps, and the sun setting at 4:15pm I have been exhausted. But here's to starting it back up and appreciating the little things that happen throughout the week...

[Finishing up Ph.D. applications. Holding breath & crossing fingers for the next couple of months.]

[Busy, busy, but enjoying the start of winter.]

[Decorating the christmas tree.]

[Chopping off my hair!]

[I love Christmas time in the city.]

[A few little new things.]

[An afternoon browsing the Christmas market at Union Square.]

Hope you had a great week!

Gift Guide | Perfect Holiday Palettes

One of my favourite things to give and receive for the holidays is a new palette. Here are five eye and cheek numbers that I think would be the perfect gift for any make-up loving friend (or yourself...)

Winter Nails | Silver & Gray

I am so excited for Christmas, but it's a bit too soon to bust out the red & green glitters. This winter mani is festive with silver glitter but subdued with the gray monochromatic colour scheme.

Favourites | November Beauty

I can't believe the holiday season is here! I have been a little MIA this week, but I am hoping the craziness will calm down. As it's the last day of November I thought I would squeeze in a November Beauty Favourites post in between finishing up my Ph.D. apps! A lot of my October Favourites remain, but I have added quite a few things to the rotation.

Zoya Zenith | Payton & Dream

Zoya is definitely my favourite nail polish brand. They have an amazing selection of colours, great formula, and are 5-free. I recently ordered some new polishes from their fall PixieDust line (post to come!) and from their latest holiday collection, Zenith. I thought I would share my picks from the collection, Payton and Dream. Gorgeous, rich jewel tones with scattered holographic glitters.

Winter Holiday Make-up | Navy & Champagne

I don't know what came over me, but I decided to forgo my everyday make-up for a holiday navy eye. A bit dramatic for my trip to the grocery store, but perfect for any upcoming holiday parties or winter nights out.

Sunday, November 17, 2013

It's the most wonderful time of the yearrr!!! I have been feeling quite festive lately and am looking forward to the approaching holidays. This week was filled with work but also lots of time with friends.

[The first snow of the season.]

[Views of the city.]

[Some new beauty things to amp up my winter routine.]

[Exploring Astoria with friends over the weekend.]

[Interacting with the art at the Socrates Sculpture Park in Queens.]

[A new pack of extra cute & cozy socks.]

[The week is never complete without a trip to Bagel Pub.]

Hope you had an amazing week!
