Sharing This Past Year...

Hi all! I am sharing five life events from the past 12 months-it's been a crazy year! I hope to get back to posting more in the future, of course about beauty routines & products!, but also about moving cities, graduate school tips, and kidney donation! If you are going through any of these events too, let's chat! Leave a comment or send me a DM :)

Beauty Field Trip | Glossier Showroom

I made a little order from Glossier  some time back. I was super intrigued by the brand and was excited to test out some of their cult products. But like any beauty addict, I wanted to try more. I figured I'd take advantage of my NYC location and visit the showroom to swatch some things before purchasing. My first mistake was going on a weekend-there was a pretty long line, especially considering the summer heat. But once on the penthouse floor, it was fun to explore the Instragram ready space.

At least with the line system, it wasn't too crowded on the floor, so you could take your time deciding on the shades you wanted. I was eyeing up the foundation and concealer, so I definitely wanted to check the color match and feel the texture. I also ended up with a few other things-stay tuned.

The Weekend | Battery Park, NYC

The air is getting a bit chillier with the coming of Autumn. We decided to head into Manhattan and walk around Battery Park/Wall Street/Tribeca. We rarely are in this area. It's more of a tourist destination or work place.

If you are around, stop by the Museum of the American Indian. It's part of the Smithsonian, so it's free!

We took the drone with us to get awesome views of the city. We succeeded. I kept trying to take pictures of the bees with my new lens.

I love being in the city by the water. I love the views, no matter if it's the NYC skyline from Brooklyn Bridge Park or the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Even Jersey City... (I'm joking I love Jersey.)

We followed a walk up the west side to the formerly known World Financial Center, now Brookfield Place. It's basically just a fancy mall. Preston and I love it for the palm trees, a reminder of home. It was also a memory for when I first visited New York. It was our senior year field trip. I remember getting off the tour bus and everyone lining up for Starbucks. It's kind of amazing to think that one 3-day trip was the only time I had been to New York before moving 3 years later. And now I have been here 4 years! Time flies.

My favourite discovery of the day was this floral ceiling. It was in the process of being created when we stumbled upon it. I could look up at it all day-it was like it was raining flowers!

How was your weekend?

Playing Tourist in NYC | Brooklyn

We love showing off our borough when we have friends & family come to town. It's a side to NYC that most people never see. Though, if you have been following my blog or Instagram, you have probably become familiar with Brooklyn Bridge Park, Park Slope, & Prospect Park. We were a little less hustle & bustle this day as the previous one in Manhattan was a long one.

Playing Tourist in NYC | Manhattan

It's kind of amazing how infrequently Preston & I go into Manhattan for recreational purposes (not counting going to the office...) Having friends & family visit (especially NYC newbies) gives us the chance to play tourist for the day. We stopped by the usual destinations: Bryant Park, Rockefeller Center, Herald Square (including a detour through Koreatown), Grand Central, Times Square, Central Park, & Columbus Circle, which all had a holiday twist for the upcoming season.

Warby Parker | Beacon Collection

Over the weekend, my friend, Vanessa, and I were roaming around Chelsea. We had a girl's afternoon planned of lunch and walking the High Line. We also stopped into the Warby Parker store to check out the frames I had been hearing so much about.

The Weekend | Brooklyn Botanical Garden Sakura

Hope you are having a lovely Sunday! This weekend was the Sakura festival at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden. It is one of my favourite events of the year (some pics from last year here). Though, the Cherry Esplanade was pre-bloom courtesy of this long winter...there were some gorgeous blooms surrounding the Japanese Garden. As I finally convinced Preston for us to get a membership and am addicted to the Cherry Watch, we will definitely be back when the other trees bloom.

Seven

This week's Seven is highly focused on the weekend. It felt like the start of old traditions thanks to the warmer (though not quite there yet) weather.

[Finished reading Orange is the New Black & now even more anxiously awaiting Season 2]

[Iced Coffee is back as my drink of choice. Stumptown is easily available in Brooklyn,
but it always reminds me of our trip to Portland last year.]

[Hi! We're Preston & Kim, and we love our neighborhood.]

[People's Pops at the Brooklyn Flea]

[Followed up the long walks with some reading time with the little fam.]

[The Food Trucks are backkk! We started with a favourite-Kimchi Tacos.
If you google evladylrebmik & food trucks, there are quite a bit of Seven's with this same view
...what can I say? I love food trucks.]

[& tried something new-Coolhaus Ice Cream Sandwiches.
I got Matcha Green Tea Ice Cream & Coconut Almond cookies. Yum!]

Hope you had an amazing week!

Seven

I truly apologize for being so boring. I feel like all I do is work! But that's one of the reasons why I love living in this city so much. Even when I am running errands or walking to work, there is always something interesting right around the corner...

[New washi tape.]

[Lunch break adventures in Red Hook, Brooklyn.]

[Views of Lady Liberty.]

[Taking the long way to run some errands.]

[Harry Potter stamps!]

[On the walk to work...]

[...and on the way back.]

Wishing you an amazing week!
