Dinner & a Movie

It was quite the dreary day today, so Preston & I decided to postpone a walk around the park and do a dinner and a movie instead. We used to be avid movie-goers. Especially, when we first started dating in high school-it was just the default place to go. We would see so many movies that we would guess which previews would be featured before the film. Lately, we have been much more interested in watching TV series on the couch. I think it's more of a quality of motion pictures thing than an actual laziness. Anyway...I had been really wanting to see Gone Girl. I have read all of Gillian Flynn's novels last year and heard the screen adaptation was awesome. Preston was in Portland when it came out, so I was eager for him to come back so we could go see it.

I really enjoyed the movie. It was a long one and the theater was packed. I thought the casting was perfect, and I liked that that it so closely followed the book. They created exactly what I pictured in my mind as I had read the novel. I am also a fan of director David Fincher, so I knew it would look dark & beautiful. Whether you have read the book or not, go check it out. But you should still read the book-it's a page turner.

For dinner, we went to Calexico for the first time. It was pretty good, casual dining. Then, we picked up a couple of cookies from Snice. Dinner & a Movie might seem cliche, but it's classic for a reason- whether that's to help out 17-year-old boys to know where to take their girlfriends or if you have been dating for awhile. Now, I just need to convince him to go see Box Trolls...

What was the last movie you've seen in theaters?
