Birchbox | October 2013

With the new month comes a new round of beauty boxes. I just received my October Birchbox and can't wait to show you what's inside. The theme is Beauty Buzz, so products, ingredients, trends that are being talked a lot about in the beauty industry. I have been sucked in to quite a lot of the currently hyped up products, so I love this theme already.

 Box Breakdown
Pop Beauty Aqua Lacquer in Floating Rose
Joie Folle de Joie
Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser
Liz Earle Pure Muslin Cloth
Miss Jessie's Original Creme de la Creme Conditioner
ChapStick Hydration Lock Vanilla Creme

I just want to take a moment to describe the amazing packaging of the Liz Earle samples. Oh, my is that lovely. The cute Tiffany-blue box comes packed with the Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser and a Muslin Cloth as well as little pamphlet on the brand and directions for use. Now that is a sample! It does make the other products look pretty pale in comparison. The Miss Jessie's Creme de la Creme Conditioner is a pretty decent size, despite the foil packaging, at one ounce. Though I don't have curly hair, my hair has quite a bit of wave and needs a heavy conditioner, so I will definitely be testing this out. I also received a perfume sample of Joie Folle de Joie, which smells quite nice with notes of mandarin, rose, and sandalwood. My last sample was of the Pop Beauty Aqua Lacquer in Floating Rose. I am not a big sparkly lip gloss wearer, but this is a nice sample. I appreciate it having an applicator as opposed to being a squeeze-out tube. It smells minty.

This month featured a Birchbox Find, ChapStick Hydration Lock in Vanilla Creme. It contains CoQ10 and Hyaluronic acid to keep lips moisturized. I usually love the bonus items whether they are extra foil packets or a lifestyle extra (I am even the seemingly rare subscriber that loves food samples), but I was quite disappointed that I would be getting a ChapStick in my Birchbox. For me, a sample box is supposed to show new brands and products that are at a higher price point. Most people are very familiar with ChapStick and if I wanted to try this it would be easy and inexpensive to do so. Though this bonus sample may not be for me (ChapStick is animal tested and includes a lot of chemical ingredients), I have read other opinions that people are excited about it. Everyone has different tastes in products, brands, ingredients, scents, etc.!

One thing about this Birchbox Find I am excited about is the cute printed bag it came in. Next week, I am flying to Florida to visit family, and this will be perfect for airport security! I will just have to place all my new samples inside. Overall, what I am most excited about is the Liz Earle products. This makes the whole box a winner for me, basically the other samples are just bonus. After reviewing the samples on the BB site, it's like $5 and I would totally pay $5 for the little blue box.
