Ipsy | July MyGlam Look

I was very impressed by my July MyGlam bag and was curious as to see how the products would perform. I tested them out and here is the look I came up with featuring the products from my Ipsy MyGlam bag.

I started by using the Coola Unscented Mineral Sunscreen. Next, I went through my usual foundation and eye priming stage. I was really interested in seeing the quality of the bh Cosmetics California palette. I used the gold Malibu shade all over the lid and half way under my lower lash line. For the other half of my lower lash line, I used Hollywood, a deep purple. I used San Fransisco, a medium bronzey brown, in my crease. Blending that with a product-free blending brush. I used Venus from the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette as an inner corner highlight and under the brow. I lined my eyes with the Eyeko Skinny Liner in Purple and set that with Hollywood shade from the sample palette. I then curled my lashes and applied tarte Lights, Camera, Flashes mascara. For my cheeks, I used Nars Laguna, NYX Terra Cota, and tarte Angelic for bronzer, blush, and highlight, respectively. I finished my make-up with the Pop Beauty Pouty Pop Crayon in Rose Romance which is a slightly lighter pink than my natural lip colour. Finally, I applied the healthysexyhair Beach Spray to my second-day hair.

As for a review of the products, I am still very happy with the Ipsy picks. For the Coola Unscented Mineral Sunscreen, I like it, but I prefer the cucumber version. The purple shade, Hollywood, from the bh Cosmetics California palette is a little hard and difficult to achieve true pigmentation. However, San Fransisco and Malibu were softer and more pigmented. Malibu is a little more yellow on the eyes than it appears in the pan. The Pop Beauty Crayon is pigmented and creamy. The crayon shape makes it easy to apply and the scent is minty. If you look closely, the product does sink into lines; however, it isn't noticeable at a reasonable distance. The HealthySexyHair Beach Spray is the first salt spray I have tried. It does seem to bring out and lock in waves. It definitely feels salty (after you touch your hair, your hands feel a little dry), but it's no where near as drying as the actually beach (growing up in a beach community, I have many first-hand experiences.) So the plus of beach waves without all the dryness of actual beach waves. The smell is a little more perfume-y than I would have expected, having anticipating a more beach-like scent.

Gold eye shadow & beachy waves are quintessential summer for me. I also love wearing purple eyeshadow for a liner. From far away it looks like a neutral black, but since it's purple it brightens and complements your eye colour.  Balancing the eye look with a natural pink lip completes the look.

I like how each Ipsy MyGlam bag gives you products that fit a theme and can be used together. It is fun to see how you can use each month's products in one look. I usually only use one product at a time, but this month everything just seemed to click (last month I might have looked crazy if I tried to use everything at the same time).

Do you use your Ipsy samples all together?
