What's in my Bag 2.0

It's been awhile since I shared the contents of my purse. A lot probably hasn't changed inside though my handbag of choice has rotated a few times since. Currently, I am using a smaller, though still quite roomy, bag in a summer barely off-white shade. I can't fit my MacBook so to me that's small...

Blog News

This week has been a good one for me on so many levels-personal, professional, & on the blog! One big thing is that I'm in the Wall Street Journal! A journalist spotted my Kentile Floor Nail Art post, and now, I am in today's issue. The article is also available to read online here. It was great to share my tribute to my favourite Brooklyn landmark. I also went to a Birchbox + Liz Earle event that was so lovely. I highly recommend both brands. Two other bloggers were at the brunch, so check out their blogs and give them a follow: Lisa Rosado and Simply Made in Manhattan. Thanks for reading, I'm definitely not a big blogger, and sometimes I wonder if anyone at all even reads this, so it's nice to have some fun opportunities to share my love of nail art, beauty products, and brunch.

Thank you!

Three Summer Loves

I am having a lovely summer so far, even if it has only been a few days (officially anyway). There are a few things that I have been loving, and I just had to share.

Tarte Brazilliance Skin Rejuvenating Maracuja Face & Body Self Tanner
I am a super pale girl. And though I was teased constantly (and still am...), it doesn't really bother me too much. After a self-tanning experience gone awry in high school, I figured there wasn't much to be done. However, self tanners have come a long way since then, and I am loving having a bit of a faux glow. This tanner is so easy, and when applied with a mitt, streak-free. Even on my first attempt at self-tanning in forever,  I only had one obvious spot on my ankle. That's impressive. The formula only needs 10 minutes to dry before you can put on clothes again, and the scent barely there-for a self-tanner. I highly recommend this if you are just starting out with the faux tan & don't forget to pick up a mitt too!

Jewelmint Aurora Necklace
Jewelry is a great way to add interest to an outfit in the summer without adding heat. I have been in love with this necklace for quite a while now, and after it came back from being sold out the second time, I finally gave in. It's the perfect boho piece to add over a summer tee or a maxi dress (I also can't help but picture it in autumn too, over a chunky knit...)

 Celebrate Brooklyn & Prospect Park
Preston and I have been taking advantage of Celebrate Brooklyn this first week of summer. The National was playing, and we decided to picnic out and listen to the show-two days in a row. I love that summers in the city always have a ton of events to go to and things to see. I am hoping the live music+picnic summer nights continue. And I have no doubt as we have tickets to see Neutral Milk Hotel in July, and there are plenty of shows in between.

I have said 'love' a lot. But that makes sense, right?- since it's a post about what I loveeee.

What are your current summer loves?

Depotting Adventure

I have been expressing a desire to depot my UD Book of Shadows Vol. IV for awhile now. After purchasing this magnetic palette, it finally came time for me to get on with it. It was surprisingly much easier than I thought. I armed myself with tweezers, scissors, exacto knife, hair dryer-all the tools I have seen in the YouTube vids. Really I only needed the knife, scissors, and some arm strength. Warning: This post contains pictures of palette destruction.

Nail Art | Kentile Floors

If you follow me on instagram, you may have noticed my love of the Kentile Floor sign. It's directly on my daily commute on the F train, and I can never resist snapping a picture of the beautiful skyline. I was crushed to hear that this iconic landmark was going to be removed. Luckily, the letters are being salvaged and donated to hopefully be resurrected again.

The Drugstore Orange Lip

I have been wanting to try a summery orange lip but have honestly just been a bit afraid to. Could I pull it off? Would it just result in a big mess? Whenever I am a bit skeptical on a beauty trend, I look out for drugstore alternatives, so if it is a big fail, at least I am not out too much cash. Here are two finds that I would recommend-even if you don't need any convincing to rock this bright hue.

SheaMoisture Create-Your-Own Palette

A create-your-own palette from Target? I was instantly intrigued after watching Color Swept Beauty mention the range in a video (I am currently obsessed with her channel...) I really didn't need any more eyeshadow, but when I accidentally stumbled across the display at Target, I found some shadows I had to have. I then decided to throw in the empty palette. I have been meaning to depot my Urban Decay Book of Shadows Vol. IV forever now and at only $10, it was much more affordable than the other options. Though, now I just want to fill this up with more of the Shea Moisture shades!

Birchbox | June 2014

'Away We Go' is the theme of this month's Birchbox. I always think of my monthly box as a supply of perfectly sized beauty bits for a vacation. I believe my first ever Birchbox was a travel theme as well. They seem to do this theme every year at the beginning of summer, and though I just got back from a trip to D.C., I am eager to travel again.

The Weekend | Washington D.C.

This past weekend Preston & I headed down to Washington D.C. My cousin's wedding was on Saturday, so we decided to add a couple days to explore the city. It was a jam-packed weekend of attractions, museums, and walking. We literally walked over 20 miles that weekend. Though there is still so much I wish I was able to experience, it was a perfect weekend.

Fitness Update

Though, it doesn't look like it by their...fluff...my cats love to exercise. Every time I unroll the yoga mat they hop on, rolling around like it's the best toy ever. I didn't even have time to grab some of my fitness essentials before Rococo made herself comfortable. Anyway, cats aside, today I thought I'd share a bit of an update on my fitness routine. I first shared my goal to do more yoga this New Year's & a workout outfit review, so I figured it was time to let you know how the journey is coming along and some of my must-haves.

Nail Art | Beachy Ikat with Julie G Cruise Time

I just picked up some new summer polish shades from Julie G. I spotted this display at Rite Aid for their summer limited edition 'Cruise Time' collection and just loved the vibe. I want the whole collection (even though I have a million & one mint polishes...) Two shades I knew I had to get as I don't have dupes in my collection: Old San Juan, an apricot coral, and Rio De Janero, a pink-toned purple.
